SCSI Launches New Mentoring Programme

mentoring

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland is pleased to announce the launch of its new mentoring programme. The idea behind this initiative is to allow members access to the skills, business acumen and insights held by more experienced Chartered surveyors. This is a peer to peer scheme and is open to all members, not just young members.

The suggested timeframe for each mentoring cycle is 6 months with ideally 2 meetings being held with the Mentor & Mentee, with additional meetings agreed between the parties if needed. Mentoring is a professional relationship between the Mentor and Mentee. Mentoring should not be confused with coaching or counselling. Please note all applications and discussions are dealt with in the strictest confidence.

The role of the Mentee is to clearly communicate objective(s) for each Mentoring meeting and take responsibility for identifying and achieving development goals. The role of the mentor is to encourage a mentee to explore various options to achieve their objectives and share personal insights and experience along the way.

The scheme is highly beneficial to all involved with the mentee gaining access to a trusted experienced colleague while the mentor is exposed to fresh perspectives and ideas as he/she continues to learn new skills, with both parties building their professional network.

For more information on the scheme please see attached our Guidance document.

If you would like to apply as a mentee please fill in the attached form Mentee Application.
